Traveling to Limitless

Thinking about traveling for physical therapy?

The nearest clinic is often the right place to start. A longer drive can make sense when you have already tried care without a clear path forward, the problem is complex or keeps returning, or you want one DPT to follow the details from visit to visit. This guide explains what to expect at Limitless—and when staying closer to home may be the better choice.

When distance may be worth considering

The fit matters most when the problem has not been straightforward.

Travel is not what makes care better. It is worthwhile only when the visit offers something important that has been difficult to find closer to home.

  • You have already tried physical therapy or other care, but improvement did not carry into the activities you need.
  • Symptoms involve more than one region, move around, or return whenever activity increases.
  • You want the same clinician to follow the whole plan instead of starting over with a different therapist.
  • Your goal—golf, running, lifting, work, or another specific activity—requires an individualized progression.
  • You want trigger point or electro dry needling to follow a careful examination and lead into a broader rehabilitation plan.

What the visit should clarify

What has been tried, what is still limiting you, and what to do next.

A longer drive should lead to more than another exercise sheet. The evaluation is organized around the decisions that will change your plan.

01

Previous care

Review what was examined, which treatments or exercises helped, what did not carry over, and why the original problem still matters now.

02

Current problem

Examine the movement, strength, mobility, symptom behavior, and real activity that continue to limit you rather than repeating a generic checklist.

03

Treatment response

If hands-on care or dry needling is used, check whether it produces a useful change that can be carried into movement, loading, or sport.

04

Next steps

Leave knowing the priorities, what to work on between visits, and what appointment schedule is both clinically reasonable and realistic for the drive.

Staying local may make more sense

  • Your problem is new or relatively straightforward.
  • You already have a local clinician who listens, reassesses, and progresses the plan well.
  • The drive would make consistent follow-through harder than it needs to be.

Traveling may be reasonable

  • Previous care felt generic or never reached the activity you need.
  • Your presentation requires continuity across several regions or competing factors.
  • The one-on-one model or specific clinical skill is difficult to find near you.

Before you leave home

Plan the visit with the practical details in hand.

Most patients come from Columbia and nearby Central Maryland communities. Some have chosen to travel farther, including from outside Maryland, when they wanted this kind of focused care.

Plan your first visit
Can I call before scheduling?

Yes. Call 443-545-7171 if you want to explain what has been going on, ask about the treatment model, or decide whether an evaluation at Limitless is a reasonable next step before making the drive.

How often would I need to travel to Columbia?

Visit frequency depends on the problem, your goals, how you respond, and what you can realistically do between appointments. The recommended schedule is discussed after the evaluation so the plan is clinically useful and practical for your life.

Can I travel specifically because I am interested in dry needling?

Yes. You may schedule because you are interested in trigger point or electro dry needling. The visit still begins with an evaluation so Dr. Lim can determine whether needling fits, choose a relevant target, and connect treatment to the movement or activity you want back.

Should I bring records from previous treatment?

Bring relevant imaging reports, operative notes, referrals, and prior exercise or treatment plans when available. They help Dr. Lim understand what has already been examined, what helped, and where the plan may need to change.
